The Playstation 4 and Xbox One are less than a month away from being released and the launch titles have been announced and looked over extensively. The launch titles for this console generation all look impressive and seem to convey a nice and solid line up for early adopters. So which console seems to have the best launch lineup for the launch window? Here are the three best exclusive launch games for each console and the best two multiplatform games for the upcoming launch window.
The Xbox One is launching with a solid list of titles for its launch window. It seems to have more exclusives games than Sony and that could win over some people even if it has a higher price tag.
Dead Rising 3
Dead Rising 3 looks like a fantastic open world zombie action game just like its previous iterations. It reminds me a lot of show The Walking Dead with its look and sheer number of enemies on screen. The previous Dead Rising games were among the few reasons why I was jealous of Xbox owners and this game doesn’t change that. The only faults with the game is while the game looks visually impressive, it looks like it could have been released on the current generation of consoles. Also according to an E3 Giant Bomb podcast the game was quite buggy and had frame rate issues at E3. I’m sure those issues have been mostly fixed by now but if they haven’t been fixed, especially the frame rate, it will prevent this from being a must have launch title.
Forza Motorsport 5
Forza Motorsport has become Xbox’s flagship racing franchise and a real competitor to Gran Turismo. Like Gran Turismo the game looks gorgeous with photo realistic cars and I’m sure the driving is up to par. While Gran Turismo is the king of racing but, sadly there is no PS4 release around the corner so, Forza Motorsport 5 is the closest we will see to next generation racing today.
Ryse: Son of Rome
This new game developed by the same people who made the Crysis games looks amazing. The game is set in the Roman Empire in the year 68 A.D. and players will play as Roman general Marius Titus. As Titus, players can control infantries and fight enemies with insane brutality. If I were to buy a Xbox One this would absolutely be the game I would have to have day one. Check out the brutal and gorgeous gameplay below.
The Playstation 4 is my personal console of choice but, it sadly does not have as many big exclusives compared to the Xbox One. Further into the PS4’s life there will definitely be some massive games coming from Sony and Naughty Dog but, that doesn’t mean there are no great games for the November launch.
Knack is an interesting game that seems to convey action adventure platforming gameplay similar to Naughty Dog’s and Insomniac’s previous franchises of Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Jak and Daxter. The main character Kanck looks as lovable as Clank and as deadly as Ratchet. The game looks pretty and colorful, along with the simplistic but always changing gameplay like in Racthet and Clank it makes for a great launch game.
Warframe is a science fiction free-to-play third person shooter, action massively online multiplayer game that has seemed to flown in under the radar. The gameplay looks explosive and the style and visuals are very interesting and look similar to Mass Effect. Players get to play as the Tenno, anicent warriors who are awoken from cryosleep to fight a war with the Grineer. This game looks like one of the most interesting MMOs to come out in a long time and best of all it’s free and for the PS4.
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Killzone: Shadow Fall looks like the most visually impressive and coolest shooter since Resistance 2. This game is the next generation,. The graphics and scope is immense and it looks like the coolest Killzone yet. Just as Killzone 2 blew us away with its visuals and gameplay in the early years of the PS3, Shadow Fall looks like it will do the same for the PS4. Here’s to hoping to better controls, an immersive campaign and even better multiplayer than Killzone 2. Check out some single player gameplay below.
Even though people are passionate about which console they prefer they tend to forget both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 are amazing. There are plenty of multiplatform games that will look and play fantastic on either console. Here are the two best multiplatform games that regardless of which console you buy them for, will surely please players.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Ubisoft has been making great Assassin’s Creed games time and time again and this one doesn’t look like it will disappoint. Previous games were set in places few games ever attempt to travel to. Beautiful locations like renaissance Rome, medieval Jerusalem and Colonial America have been explored in previous games. This iteration is doing the same by taking place in the Caribbean during the era of Pirates and cannon filled naval battles. It’s a shame I haven’t been able to play most of this series when each game looks like so much fun and beautiful. Black Flag seems to be bringing more of what the series is known for, amazing visuals, an immersive plot and great game play but, now on next generation hardware.
Surprisingly Battlefield 4 looks really good. Battlefield 3 was visually and technically impressive but, the campaign was forgettable and bland. The multiplayer quickly became very unbalanced after its release and the time to unlock weapons and items was too high. Developers of Battlefield 4 look like they are learning from their shortcomings and are making a much better and memorable campaign which I believe is still very important in shooters. The multiplayer also looks even more explosive than Battlefield 3 if that’s even possible and developers seem to be working on improving the multiplayer over Battlefield 3 to make it more player friendly and balanced. Surprisingly it doesn’t look much better than Call of Duty Ghosts as the previous Battlefield looked much better than Modern Warfare 3. Visually it looks like a small upgrade from Battlefield 3 but, still looks amazing.
