Uncharted 2 First Impressions

On this Christmas day I was able to play Uncharted 2 for Playstation 3. As this was my first time playing this game I was pretty excited. Based on what I’ve read and heard it’s a fantastic game. Uncharted 2 was a winner of numerous game of the year awards last year. Many have said that the visuals are a new milestone and that the gameplay is just very fluid and cinematic. So I went in expecting something fun and interesting.

It starts off with Nathan Drake, the main protagonist, waking up in a badly damaged train, hanging off a snowing cliff. The first goal is to control Drake and help him climb the train, which is breaking in pieces and slowly about to fall off the cliff. After some awesome, realistic climbing, almost being crushed by falling debris, Drake makes it off the train. He does all this while bleeding due to some torso injury so, he starts to drift in and out of consciousness by the time he’s off the train.

I then get to witness some breathtaking cutscenes. The visuals are something close to revolutionary and I had not been this stunned since the first time I played Metal Gear Solid 4. The audio was very realistic as well. After watching some cutscenes I was introduced to some more gameplay in another time period, most likely one Drake’s flashbacks. So after having played a small taste of Uncharted 2, I’m excited and ready for an amazing game tailored to my action adventure gaming interest.
